Saturday, April 15th: GA Department of Natural Resources Sprewell Bluff Wildlife Management Area Volunteer Trash Pickup Day

Meet at Mitchell Gap, where Chalybeate Springs Road intersects Taylor Road, southeast of Manchester. Clean is from 8:30am– noon. Wear sturdy shoes, long pants and work gloves. Pack a lunch! Volunteers will be split into groups to target different areas. View our flyer for more information.

Saturday, April 22nd: Great American Cleanup

Lee County, Leesburg, and Smithville. The event will include removing trash from public areas including storm ponds, canals and parks, There will be an amnesty day at the landfill in which citizens of Lee County can bring their unwanted items to the dump for free. Also during that day we will be collecting any unwanted prescription drugs (No questions asked) and collecting unserviceable U.S., State, Confederate, or military branch flags. Saturday, April 29: 2nd Annual Flint River Rhythm Music Festival at Albany Shrine Club, Albany, GA.

EVENT INFORMATION:

What: Flint Riverkeeper’s 2nd Annual Flint River Rhythm Music Event Featuring music from RELAPSE performing from 9-11pm with openers Stephen Harrell and the Dusty Boats Band performing from 6-8pm.
When: Saturday, April 29, 2017
Where: Albany Shrine Club along Muckalee Creek 135 Shrine Club Road, Leesburg, GA 31763
Details: Gates open at 5pm.

General Admission tickets are $20 per person, kids 12 & under are free with adult.

Cornhole Tournament, $25 Registration at noon; Bags fly at 1pm. $5 of Registration fee to benefit FRk.

Sunday, May 14th: Mother’s Day Shoal Lily Paddle

Join FRk board member Les Ager and his wife Jaydee as they guide a trip through the upper Flint’s shoals to see the remarkable beauty of the shoal lily blooms.
Meet by 9am at the GA Hwy 36 Bridge in Upson County. The float will conclude by 3pm with takeout at the Big Lazer Wildlife Management Area.

Pricing schedule:
Members with own boat: $15
Members who borrow FRk boat: $25
Non-members with own boat: $35
Non-members who borrow FRk boat: $45
Volunteers who help load FRk boats at trip’s conclusion receive a $10 discount
Includes canoe or kayak rental, paddle, PFD and one-year membership to Flint Riverkeeper®

Bad Weather or Low Flow cancellation: Make up dates can be established as needed. Refunds considered individually – or gratefully accepted as a donation to help Flint Riverkeeper in our river protection efforts.

Saturday, July 8th: Rivers Alive

Lee County. Volunteers will be traveling the Kinchafoonee and Muckalee Creek from one bridge to the next removing trash along the way. Also, looking a few experienced boaters on the Flint too but, can’t send high school kids! We will have a cookout at Chehaw Park with a bluegrass band. Event starts around 8:00am and should end after our lunch at Chehaw Park. Volunteers that sign up two weeks prior to the event will receive a Lee County Rivers Alive shirt and hopefully a newly designed sticker for their boat or cooler.
